Getting a Charge out of Scooting
The patent for the scooter, maneuvered either by foot pedal or as an electric scooter, goes back as far as 1921, although not much is known about these precursors to the modern electric scooter.

One of the best
known of the recent electric scooter craze is the Razor scooter. The
Razor electric scooter can actually fold up. It is the product of J.D.
Corporation, whose primary products are aluminum parts for bicycles. A
Shanghai Taiwan based company, J.D. Corporation sells all sorts of
electric scooters. The Razor Scooter, its biggest success, was five
years in the making. This electric scooter was designed by Gino Tsai
who, at 44 years of age was already the company president.
The electric Razor scooter came about from a need of his own. Gino
Tsai had short legs and he said he always walked too slowly to get
quickly enough from one part of his massive bicycle factory to the
other. To solve his need for speed Gino Tsai set to work in the Chang
Hua factory designing an electric scooter that would help solve his
problem. This became the modern electric Razor scooter.
This latest electric scooter is made from aluminum that is a grade so
high that it's used in the manufacture of airplanes. The neon-colored
aluminum is able to support 1100 pounds of weight on it without
bending. The electric scooter wheels are made from polyurethane and
its bearings are silent. The brake is patented and works when the
rider steps on the rear fender of the state of the art electric
scooter.
